MIDDLESEX UNIVERSITY, UK, as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations in India has announced 10 postgraduate scholarships for Indian students to study at the university’s London campus. In 1998-99 the university started its India initiative with 40 students and by 2008 these numbers had grown to over 1,000.
According to media reports, Terry Butland, deputy vice-chancellor (international and marketing), Middlesex University said that the new scholarships are a celebration underlining its commitment to and relationship with the India. The university has 15 regional offices, including five in India.
The scholarships are being offered in subjects across the university’s teaching curriculum, including financial management, science, education and leadership, sustainable development and technology and product design. The university is offering 10 scholarships worth £3,000 each across nine `industry-relevant’ programmes. These scholarships can be clubbed with the other £1,000 and £500 bursaries the university offers.
THE SCHOLARSHIPS: The 10th Anniversary Scholarships are being offered for the 2009-10 academic year. Applicants should have a first class undergraduate degree in a relevant subject, although candidates with equivalent professional experience may also be considered. The South Asia Regional Office will shortlist applications for the scholarships; academics from the university will then review the shortlist and make a final selection.
